A User Base is the heart of your business, Don't thing in terms of visitors, Visitors are anonymous passer bye's. Business and community is based on clients, vendors, associates and friends. A good web interface is a portal to theses folks. Having them log in to the "Front End" allows them a direct pathway to you and others in the community. Each user can be assigned a different level of permissions. This way you can feed specific view content to each group of folks as needed. Each group can have different access to other groups and so on. Also once a user is logged in they feel part of something, and they are. Community is building is just as important to your business as is is to say mySpace or YouTube.
